Carel Pienaar, Namibia 4×4 hire experts and local tour guide, says, “Namibia’s national parks are a huge draw for visitors and tourists from all over the world. Whether you’re heading off on safari, following elephant migration routes, tracking local game or marveling at the spectacular scenery, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience in Namibia. Check out our rundown of the most popular national parks.”
Situated in the north east of Namibia, this national park is a must for those who want to follow elephant and buffalo migration routes. During the dry season, you may be lucky enough to see huge herds of these animals migrating to pastures new in order to find water and food to survive.
The park is also home to thousands of indigenous people, which marks it out from many of the other national parks in Namibia. They still practice their traditions and customs, and you can visit the tribal lands on your 4×4 self-drive trip.
When it comes to wildlife, you’ll find plenty here to impress. The big cats are right at home here, with leopards, lions and cheetahs in abundance. You’ll also find some quite impressive birds in this national park, including the African Wood Owl, the Grey-Headed Parrot and the Western Banded Snake-Eagle.
Etosha National Park
Wildlife spotters will find the endangered black rhino here in this park, as well as some of the largest elephants in Africa. Lions, leopards and giraffes are also common here, and the game reserve is home to more than 340 species of bird, including the ostrich.
